Generous Living & God's Grace

February 12, 2010

Hello and warm greetings.  I just wanted to touch base with all of you before Sunday to encourage you to continue reading the devotion guide for the 40 Day Spiritual Journey to a more Generous Life.  This book has been enlightening to me along with opening my eyes to the different areas that the Lord has blessed me and my family.  We so take our blessings for granted and even overlook them at times.  The Lord has given us so much and He has asked so little in return.

Last Sunday I taught on the very first mention of the tithe in the bible and the circumstances surrounding this verse.  In Genesis 14 is says that “Abram gave a tithe, tenth of everything.”  I looked at the reasons that He gave a tenth to the Lord.  I wanted to look at how and why tithing got started in the bible and what it means to us today.  I encourage you to listen to the lesson online at www.lifechurchtexas.com.  The simple reason that we are taking this 40 day journey in being generous is that all of us, you and me, will experience God’s grace and favor.  I want all to see and experience God’s blessings in all areas of their lives; in their treasure, time, testimony, and talent.  I don’t care about your money but I do care about God’s blessings in your life.  If one truly wants God’s blessings in their lives then they must be generous with the Lord.  He will bless us for this.  Come this Sunday as we continue the journey of generosity.

Cans for Camp-we are collecting aluminum cans to help send boys and girls to camp this summer. You can bring your cans to the back porch of the Education Building if you would like to help in this area.

Metal Chairs needed-the house on the church property is now available for us to use on Sunday mornings and we are in need of metal chairs.  If you have some chairs lying around the house or garage and you would like to get them out of the way you can donate them to the church for our multipurpose building.

Church website-we are in the process of changing over our church website, with that in mind the www.lifechurchtexas.org website is going to be down for a couple of days this next week.  The new website can be viewed now at www.lifechurchtexas.com and www.lifechurchtexas.net.  If you have an email account through the church it might be slow until all accounts can be switched over our satisfaction.

Guys don’t forget that this Sunday is Valentines Day.

See all of you this Sunday, bring a friend with you.
