Back to Church Sunday
September 3rd, 2010
Hello! I pray that your week has gone well and that this Friday evening finds you basking in the blessings of our Creator. This Sunday is my last message in our current series, “The Church/Person God Blesses.” I want to encourage you to be present but if you cannot be present please listen to them online at www.lifechurchtexas.org. I don’t want our church to be another dead and dying church; I want us to be alive, growing and thriving in the power of the Holy Spirit. I want God’s blessings to drown us on a daily basis and for us to be able to recognize His blessings in our lives.
It was great to see all of our youth and children last week as we recognized them on Back to School Sunday. It was also good to see that our second service was full and our first service was well attended. I have set a goal for us to be running 200 by January and in order for this to happen we must look at two very important areas.
Parking-if we are to make our guests feel welcome we must allow them the best parking spaces around the church. I am asking our church partners and regular attendees to park on the grass by the house or to the west of the Education building. By parking in these areas this will allow our guest to have available to them the best parking.
Friendliness-it is crucial that our guest feel like we want them at our church. This begins with them seeing smiles when they pull into the parking lot, but it does not stop there. We, our church partners, must be willing to ask them their names and where they live, who invited them and we must go the extra mile and show them around to help them feel welcomed and a part of our church. It is vital that during our welcome time we get around and shake their hands and greet them.
Back to Church Sunday is September 12 and this is a national event that churches have registered to take part in. I am asking you to invite one or more of your unchurched friends, family, neighbors or co-workers to come to church with you on this day. Did you know that on any give Sunday only 20% of our American population attends church? We have 80% unchurched on any given weekend. That is amazing! Research tells us that people really want to go to church and they are waiting for someone to ask them and that 50% of them will attend at the request of someone that they know. Let’s make these invitations and requests to build our church and the Kingdom.
Operation Christmas Child-Don’t forget the weekly items that we are collecting to make the Christmas boxes for boys and girls around the world. This is a very simple way that we can spread the message of Jesus Christ and help Heaven to be fuller and hell emptier.
Kids Beach Club-I have just now found out today that our principal has approved us to meet in our school. This means that we need to jump on this opportunity. We need 2-3 more volunteers and we need to raise the necessary money for this club. If you would like to help with by being a volunteer or by giving please let me know as soon as possible. Let’s ride the wave that the Lord is sending.
Leadership meeting after this weeks 10:45 service-I would like to meet with all those who have a leadership position in our church or would like to have a leadership position in our church right after the 10:45 service in the worship center.
In closing, I want to invite you to be in your places this Sunday and if you do not have an area of ministry or service I want you to find a place to serve in our church. Church means so much more when you are actively serving.Anchored in Christ,
Hal Helton
Lead Pastor
