Hello church family.  I want to tell you about a lady that I met with this morning and why I met with her.  This ladies name is Tammy and she had called me the second week of June to see if she could meet with her about a bible club in Hughes Elementary School (the school that we met in before acquiring our building).  She told me that she had a parent that lives in our neighborhood that had called in to see if she could start a Kid’s Beach Club (a one day a week VBS like program for 12 weeks in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring) in our school.  This ladies child had asked our principal why they did not teach about Jesus while at school.  Our principal said that they could not do it during school but somebody might be able to after school.  Tammy told this lady that there needed to be a church that would sponsor and oversee this program and this lady without even thinking about it said,  “Life Community Church is the church that has had the greatest impact in our neighborhood let me call Pastor Hal and see if they would sponsor this club.” So this is how Tammy came to know about our church.

Tammy and her husband started Kid’s Beach Club a number of years ago for their church in Euless to reach school age children for children.  Their clubs grew and before long they had schools and parents begging them to come into their schools.  Tammy and her husband now work with other churches to establish a beacon of light to neighborhoods and schools for the cause of Christ by helping churches establish these clubs.

The reason that I am writing this email is to ask for you to pray about this.   If we do this we will be taking Christ to those outside the walls of the church building, this is called missions, we will be sharing Jesus Christ inside the public school building ( a place that we were kicked out of in the 1960’s), and we will be connecting to families who need a church home (55% of all children enrolled in Kid’s Beach Clubs have no church affiliation).  I am also asking you to pray about this because we would need to raise the money to join this program, which is $2500.00 a year and we would need  5-7 volunteers one hour a week for 12 weeks in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring.

The way this program works is the Kid’s  Beach Club organization will secure the building, provide insurance, conduct background checks, train the volunteers, provide an easy to follow curriculum and give us access to those families without church homes.  We have to provide the volunteers and the club fee.

I want you to pray about this with me.  This is a great testimony of our church in our neighborhood but this is also an opportunity for our church.  I want to hear some feed back from you on this.  If we don’t do it another church will and we will have missed the opportunity.  For years Christians have been whining about God being kicked out of the schools, well, just maybe this is the door that the Lord has opened to us to get back into the schools.  I want to hear from you on this and especially from those whose children attend or will attend Hughes E.S.
